Text'Art in Montreal

Our Text'Art group had a lovely day in Montreal visiting the Photos of India exhibit in the Pointe-à-Callière museum .  Lots of poster size photographs of life in India, particularly at festivals so the colours are bright, people are happy and you get a real feel for the hum of life.  There were also some small statues of a variety of Indian deities.  We had a  delicious lunch at the museum restaurant which overlooks the old port.  The photos below were taken from the Belvedere atop the building.

Our day ended with a visit to the Centre Design et Impression Textiles in St Henri.  The old Simmons mattress factory had been converted to accommodate artist studios and the school.  We saw an exhibit by graduates which covered the gamut from dyeing, indigo, stamping, distressing and quilting.  Lovely work.  The site for the school is http://www.designtextile.qc.ca/html/galerie.htm and you can see some of the things that they do.

Such a treat to have this reminder of our fun day, Dianne. We are so lucky to have our little band of intrepid explorers in all things fabric-related.
